Your Mission as an IT Lecturer

As an IT Lecturer at SMU, you will provide engaging and impactful instruction in IT, computer science, and related digital disciplines. You will help students develop foundational and advanced knowledge in information technology, fostering technical proficiency and critical thinking. In addition, you will mentor students, contribute to IT research, and participate in the ongoing improvement of an innovative technology curriculum that meets global industry standards.

You Will Be Handling These Duties and Responsibilities as an IT Lecturer

• Deliver dynamic lectures, tutorials, workshops, and laboratory sessions for undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes in IT, computer science, software engineering, or related fields.
• Design, update, and assess course materials and digital learning resources in line with the latest advancements and practices in information technology education.
• Guide and support students on practical projects, group assignments, and research-based tasks that reflect current IT challenges and innovations.
• Develop an inclusive and collaborative learning environment, ensuring accessibility and support for all learners regardless of background.
• Engage in departmental meetings, curriculum development, programme review, and academic events.
• Contribute to collaborative research, outreach, or knowledge-exchange activities with industry partners, professional organisations, or other educational institutions.
• Maintain currency with emerging technologies, software trends, and best practices in IT teaching and learning.

Qualifications and Skills that will allow you to thrive as an IT Lecturer

• A Master's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. Progress towards a Ph.D. or substantial professional IT experience is desirable.
• Strong expertise in core IT topics, such as programming, databases, systems analysis, networking, or cybersecurity.
• Experience in teaching, training, or mentoring others in a formal or informal setting (university-level teaching experience is an advantage).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to motivate, instruct, and engage students from diverse backgrounds.
• Dedication to educational excellence, student success, and continuous professional development in digital fields.
• Ability to contribute to applied IT research or industry-related projects.
• Collaborative attitude and ability to work well within an academic team.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is beneficial.

Additional Information

• Working Days & Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 9 am - 5 pm.
  
• Location: Tripoli.
