Your Mission as an Engineering Lecturer

As an Engineering Lecturer at SMU, you will deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and/or postgraduate modules in engineering. You will help students develop strong conceptual foundations, technical expertise, and problem-solving capabilities. Your role will also involve guiding student projects, supporting research activities, and contributing to the continual evolution of an innovative and industry-focused curriculum.

You Will Be Handling These Duties and Responsibilities as an Engineering Lecturer

• Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and laboratory sessions in engineering subjects relevant to your expertise (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or related fields).
• Develop, update, and assess course materials and learning resources to ensure alignment with current industry standards and educational best practice.
• Support and guide students in project-based learning, research activities, and applied assignments that reflect real-world engineering challenges.
• Foster a supportive, inclusive, and participatory learning environment, supporting the diverse needs of all students.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, academic events, and quality assurance processes.
• Contribute to collaborative research, outreach, or consultancy initiatives with external industry, academic, or community partners, as appropriate.
• Stay up to date with advancements in engineering education, technologies, and industry trends.

Qualifications and Skills that will allow you to thrive as an Engineering Lecturer

• A Master's degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or a closely related field). Professional experience or progress towards a Ph.D. is an advantage.
• Strong command of your engineering discipline and a passion for sharing knowledge.
• Previous experience in teaching, training, or mentoring (prior university-level teaching experience is a plus).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students from a variety of backgrounds.
• Commitment to continuous development, student success, and educational innovation.
• Ability to contribute to research activities and/or applied engineering projects.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative academic team.
• Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Arabic is an asset.

Additional Information

• Working Days & Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 9 am - 5 pm.
  
• Location: Tripoli.
