Your Mission as a Medicine Lecturer at SMU

As a Medicine Lecturer at SMU, your role is to provide engaging and impactful instruction across the core subjects of medical science and clinical practice. You will support students in developing strong foundational and advanced knowledge in medicine, patient care, and research skills. Alongside teaching, you will mentor future health professionals, contribute to medical research and curriculum innovation, and ensure the programme remains aligned with international developments in medical education.

You Will Be Handling These Duties and Responsibilities as a Medicine Lecturer

• Deliver interactive lectures, tutorials, practical demonstrations, and clinical skills workshops for undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical programmes.
• Design, review, and assess module content, course materials, and digital learning resources in alignment with the latest standards in medical education and healthcare practice.
• Guide and support students in clinical placements, laboratory sessions, group projects, and independent research relevant to contemporary medical challenges and opportunities.
• Promote a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that champions diversity, equity, and accessibility for all students.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, medical curriculum development, programme reviews, and university health science events.
• Engage in collaborative health research, outreach, or knowledge exchange with local hospitals, clinics, healthcare organisations, or other academic institutions.
• Continually update personal knowledge on medical science advancements, healthcare technologies, and modern teaching methodologies.

Qualifications and Skills that will allow you to thrive as a Medicine Lecturer

• A Master's degree or higher in Medicine, Medical Sciences, or a closely related discipline. Progress towards a relevant doctorate, medical qualification (e.g., MBBS, MD), or substantial professional experience in healthcare is considered advantageous.
• Robust expertise in fundamental and advanced medical subjects, such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, or clinical skills.
• Experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring in a formal or informal setting. Previous university-level instruction or medical training/education is a plus.
• Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to inspire, guide, and engage students from a wide range of backgrounds.
• Strong commitment to educational excellence, student wellbeing, and lifelong professional improvement within the medical field.
• Capability to contribute to applied medical research, clinical audits, or healthcare-related projects.
• Collaborative approach and proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary academic and healthcare team.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is valued.

Additional Information

• Working Days & Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 9am - 5pm.
• Location: Tripoli.
