Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, healthcare and service, seeks applicants for a post-doctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology, in the laboratory of Drs. James Brien & Amelia Pinto. We seek a highly motivated enthusiastic Post Doctoral Research Scholar to work on viral immunology. Our laboratory works on emerging pathogens with a focus on establishing correlates of protection for viral infections. We have both industry funded as well as NIH funded projects currently ongoing in the laboratory. We currently seek someone interested in working on an industry funded contract. There are resources available to develop a post doc project separate from the industry funded position; however, completion of the industry funded tasks are required for employment. Applicants must have successfully completed post-graduate education with laboratory research experience. The Post doctoral Research Scholar needs to have some experience in virology/immunology and to be able to complete experiments with minimum supervision. We are a highly collaborative group so the post-doc must work well in a group and be able to communicate their ideas to others. The ability to work with multiple pathogens and a diverse set of experiments simultaneously is required. Post doctoral candidate should have knowledge of techniques and basic immunology and virology procedures. Experience in small animal models of disease and basic animal handling is a significant advantage. Our laboratory does work with Select Agents and although we do not anticipate the individual hired for this post doc position to work with Select Agents applicants who meet Select Agent requirements will be given preference.
