Job Description
Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral fellow in the Edward A. Doisy Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, beginning in the spring of 2019. A postdoctoral position is now available in the laboratory of Dr. Kyle McCommis. Successful candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree in a life sciences-related field, with research experience in molecular biology and/or animal physiology. The laboratory of Dr. Kyle McCommis focuses on the importance of mitochondrial metabolism in the pathogenesis and treatment of metabolic diseases such as heart failure and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Projects will combine in vivo animal physiology and pathology, isolated primary cell and immortalized cell cultures, as well as biochemical and molecular biology techniques. Applicants should be highly motivated, be able to think critically, and demonstrate productivity throughout previous research experiences. Compensation will be based on experience, according to the NIH pay scale.
