Job Title:
Support Assistant for Student Care

Job Description:
The Support Assistant provides care and support to students with exceptional needs. They work under the direction of supervising teachers and school teams, promoting student growth, well-being, and independence.

Responsibilities:
• Assist students with daily personal care activities, such as feeding, toileting, and hygiene;
   • Administer medication and perform medical procedures according to Regional Centre for Education policy and Department of Health guidelines;
   • Support students in moving about during the school day, including lifting, positioning, and accompanying students to community programs;
   • Supervise students to ensure a safe environment;
   • Assist students with using support equipment and dressing/undressing as needed;

Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent;
* Teacher assistant training through a recognized diploma or certificate program, or equivalent training (e.g., CCA, LPN);
* A school practicum or equivalent experience in personal care;
* Ability to perform all job duties, including caring for students;
* Current certification in CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain prior to employment;
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
