Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Referral Specialist I is responsible for gathering and maintaining patient demographic and financial information when necessary; reviews outstanding referral requests and ensures authorization is obtained and documented accurately and timely; collaborates with physicians and provider office staff in ascertaining the appropriate authorization based on medical necessity and the treatment plan provided; verifies and obtains additional clinical information and insurance authorizations/referrals; communicates directly or indirectly with physician practices to obtain required insurance referrals.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma; experience with insurance authorizations or referrals preferred.
