Saint Louis University ( SLU ), a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants (physicians) for full time faculty positions in the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital ( CGCH ). The candidates should have a strong clinical background in pediatric emergency medicine, either by fellowship training and/or experience, with a commitment to excellence in patient care and medical education. The division also offers a clinical scholar's track, with a reduction in clinical hours, for those interested in scholarly productivity. As employees of SLU , faculty members are given a very generous compensation package that includes matching retirement contributions and are eligible to receive free tuition at SLU as well as tuition exchange at other universities for dependents under the age of 25 years. SSM Health CGCH is a 190-bed free standing hospital located in midtown Saint Louis, adjacent to Saint Louis University. The Hospital serves a diverse population from the inner city, the metropolitan area, and a 200-mile referral radius. The medical staff includes over 150 full-time Saint Louis University School of Medicine faculty. The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine ( PEM ) has primary responsibility for the care of patients at SSM Health CGCH Emergency Department, which is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and cares for over 60,000 patients per year. The Division includes 17 faculty and 6 fellows, with double and triple attending coverage during peak hours. Lower acuity patients are cared for by pediatric nurse practitioners who staff the department from 8 am to 2 am each day. Staffing is adjusted to average 2 new patient contacts per hour per provider.
