Job Summary
Under close supervision, the Authorization Specialist I is responsible for gathering and maintaining patient demographic and financial information when necessary; reviews outstanding pre-certification requests and ensures authorization is obtained and documented accurately and timely; collaborates with physicians and provider office staff in ascertaining the appropriate authorization based on medical necessity and the treatment plan provided; verifies and obtains additional clinical information and insurance authorizations/referrals; communicates directly or indirectly with insurance companies to obtain insurance verification and pre-certification for approval. The Authorization Specialist I is expected to meet Key Performance Indicators ( KPI ), quality metrics, and to uphold a culture of continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma; supplemented with one (1) year of related healthcare experience. Experience with insurance authorizations or referrals preferred
