Learning Community Coordinator

The Learning Community Coordinator, as an educator, provides direction for student learning and academic success through the visioning and implementation of nine (9) residential learning communities. The Learning Community program at Saint Louis University is designed for first-year and sophomore students. The Learning Community program creates intentional, inclusive communities centered on student's academic interests or major. Approximately 1,000 students participate in the learning communities. The learning communities invite students to be intellectually curious, critically reflective, and engaged global citizens. The program is designed to connect students with faculty and staff in the curricular and co-curricular domains in order to inspire learning and innovation. The program is centered on providing High-Impact Educational Practices to students in order to also further student success at the institution. The program is highly collaborative with units in academic affairs and student development. The Learning Community Coordinator must be committed to working within an innovative environment that is focused on the education of students within a residential setting through the development of cohesive living and learning communities. The successful staff member must have a passion for working with a diverse student population, be committed to student learning and development, possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, demonstrate initiative, communicate effectively, have a positive attitude, and an ability to manage structured autonomy. Staff positions within Housing and Residence Life are not traditional office hour positions. Schedules are influenced by student and community needs. There will be times throughout the year when the Learning Community Coordinator will be expected to work evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
A Master's Degree is required, preferred focus in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, or related field. Previous housing and residence life, academic affairs, student leadership, or community engagement experience is preferred. All candidates will be required to submit academic transcripts to verify education. Per university policy, a background check will be conducted for candidates who are a finalist in the search process.
