Role & responsibilities

  • Perform Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) operations on armored vehicle structures, chassis frames, and other heavy steel components.
  • Set up SAW machines with appropriate current, voltage, wire feed, and flux parameters according to welding procedures.
  • Interpret and follow welding drawings, WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), and fabrication blueprints.
  • Ensure high-quality welds with full penetration and minimal distortion as per project requirements.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, positioning, and aligning components accurately.
  • Conduct visual inspection of welds and coordinate with QC teams for NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) such as UT, RT, or MPI.
  • Maintain welding consumables, flux, and wire as per approved standards.
  • Follow safety protocols and PPE usage while handling welding equipment and materials.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure proper functioning of welding machines.
  • Support production schedules for overseas defense/military vehicle projects by meeting deadlines and quality benchmarks.
  • Report defects, nonconformities, or machine issues to the supervisor promptly.

Preferred candidate profile

  • ITI / Diploma in Welding, Fabrication, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 38 years of experience in Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) operations, preferably in heavy fabrication, vehicle manufacturing, or defense armoring.
  • Hands-on experience in welding mild steel, high-strength low-alloy steel, and ballistic-grade materials.
  • Knowledge of AWS, ASME, or ISO welding standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, WPS, and welding symbols.
  • Certification in SAW process (AWS / ASME / equivalent) preferred.
