Job Title:Anatomy Lab TechnologistDepartment:Medicine | BMEA-Division of Anatomy

The Anatomy Lab Technologist manages all laboratories within the Division of Anatomy (gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, etc.) in the Department of Biomedical Education and Anatomy within the College of Medicine. Re-stocks supplies (e.g., gloves, wetting solutions, surgical gowns); Cleans labs (e.g., empty trash, attend to spills, wipe down countertops, straighten-up materials); Serves as the primary point of contact for all courses and programs, having a regular presence in the labs; Coordinates the set-up of labs with faculty, undergraduate, and graduate teaching assistants, as well as programs outside the division; Coordinates all lab calendars and the scheduling of teaching sessions; Arranges and supervises the proper disposal of chemicals and biological hazards; Coordinates the deep cleaning of labs with the housekeeping manager; Directs and/or assists in the cleaning of technical equipment; Schedules maintenance of lab equipment with providers; Provides basic technical support for labs; Maintains an up-to-date list of all anatomical material prosections within the division, monitoring condition, quality, and quantity of specimens; Assists in the preparation and storage of prosections; Mixes chemicals for wetting solutions and immersion tanks; Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all lab supplies and teaching resources (e.g., laboratory manuals, specimens, and tools used in dissection/demonstration); Coordinates ordering and receiving supplies and equipment for all teaching labs; Implements and educates students on the best health and safety practices along with the best ethical practices on the handling of human material; Upholds the highest standards of care to ensure the utmost respect of all donors; Works closely with the Anatomy Morgue Technician for lab turn-overs, preparation, and maintenance; Assists in the development of standard operating procedures; Other duties as assigned by the Director of Anatomical Services and Body Donation Program.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Sciences or Biological Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Customer service experience preferred. Must be able to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, and communicate with students, faculty, and external program attendees. Position involves pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and walking. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
