Non-Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Biology

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service invites applications for an Assistant Professor position (Non-Tenure-Track, teaching-focused) in the Department of Biology. Major duties and responsibilities will include teaching introductory biology lecture courses (in the context of the Principles of Biology sequence for majors), and additional courses at the upper division level. In particular, we are interested in candidates that could teach an upper division lecture course in Genetics and/or Evolutionary Biology, as well as lecture and lab courses in their area of expertise. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree (in any of the Biological Sciences) and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring. Preferred qualifications include: - experience with learner-centered, evidence-based, instructional practices and assessment; - familiarity (or experience) with best practices of instructional design; - demonstrated ability to work effectively as a part of a collaborative teaching team; - interest in (or experience with) mentoring and professional development of graduate Teaching Assistants; - interest in discipline-based education research ( DBER ), and potential collaboration on DBER projects within the department. The successful candidate will begin in August 2019.
