OF4 Defence Attache Libya

Subject to Joint Boarding process and sS policies a vacancy will arise for an OF4 to serve as the Defence Attache at the British Embassy, Libya on FTRS Full Commitment Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 Jun 26.
Unit Function:
Identify opportunities to defend and protect UK interests, influence bilateral and allied relationships, promote UK prosperity, and build international security capabilities, whilst guarding against multi-dimensional threats against those interests.
Position Role:
Command the Defence Section, MoD's interlocutor, and CDS' formal representative in Libya; advise HoM on defence and security.
Responsibilities:
- To obtain strategic insight and politico-military influence in order to further the aims and objectives of Defence and HMG.
- Deliver timely, accurate reporting and analytical comment on country-related and regional defence and security matters to HoM, MOD and FCO
- Translate the MOD's country/regional strategy and DE objectives into annual Defence Section objectives agreed and embedded in the Country Business Plan
- Develop and nurture productive relationships with all stakeholders in the bilateral defence relationship.
- To support national or coalition operations as required, principally through facilitating access, basing and overflight
To manage the Defence Section in accordance with extant regulations, within budget and in accordance with relevant security regulations
Additional Responsibilities:
- To contribute to UK's strategy for countering international terrorism, including the development and delivery of HMG's Counter Terrorism Country Strategy for Libya
